There are new shops and restaurants, which is to be expected, but there's a new museum on the Bowery, the subway cars look cleaner (on the 4,5,6 at least), there are shiny new bus stops, and cabs are getting super fancy with TV screens and credit card swipers.
And then last night I stopped in a deli on my way home and paid $13.27 for a quart of milk, a box of cereal and a pre-packaged fruit smoothie.
Some things never change.
