Get a move on

After returning from Sunday's puppy party we received the somewhat unpleasant news from our landlords that they're going to be remodeling the house. In other words, we gotta go. We're welcome to come back afterwards, they love us as tenants, blah blah blah...but contractors aren't the best with deadlines. SO...

Let the apartment hunting begin! The good news is that we're not competing with lots of college students. Also, the experience here is much more pleasant than it was in NYC where you have to show up at the open house with all your personal info and that of your 15 closest relatives, plus a bank check for 1st & last month's rent and 3 months security.

I've created a spreadsheet with all the vital information for each property - rent, deposit, approx. sq. ft., bedrooms, baths, parking, date of availability, pros, cons and contact person. We saw our first place this morning. As a pro it had lots of space. As a con, it was...musty. To be more accurate, it smelled like someone had died in there and the body had only been removed moments before our arrival. I've seen 2 more, we've got 1 tonight and 2 tomorrow. Updates to follow.
